President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally named Mr. Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the next Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HOCSF), with his official tenure slated to begin on August 27, 2026.
​The presidential directive was communicated in an official announcement released on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, via a statement issued from the State House in Abuja.
​Enitan succeeds the outgoing HOCSF, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who is stepping down from public service after reaching the mandatory statutory retirement age of 60.
An indigene of Osun State, Enitan steps into the highest administrative role as the most senior active Permanent Secretary within the Federal Civil Service.
Serving as a Permanent Secretary for over seven years, Enitan currently manages the Federal Ministry of Education. His previous postings include leadership roles at the Ministry of Police Affairs, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, and the Office of the Vice President.
Born on December 12, 1966, Enitan completed his secondary education at Ajibode Grammar School, Ibadan, and the College of Arts and Science, Ile-Ife. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and Banking from the University of Lagos (1988) and earned a Master of Science in Public Policy Analysis from Nasarawa State University, Lafia, in 2015.
President Tinubu expressed appreciation to Mrs. Walson-Jack for her dedicated tenure and institutional innovations. Charging the incoming chief administrator, the President urged Enitan to deepen professionalism, enforce merit-based accountability, and optimize service delivery in alignment with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
​Official handover ceremonies will take place at the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Complex Phase II, Federal Secretariat, Abuja, ahead of the effective commencement date.
