​Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has extended his congratulations to Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, following his victory in the Saturday, August 15, 2026, governorship election.
​The official declaration was made on Sunday morning, August 16, 2026, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at the State Collation Centre in Osogbo, Osun State. Governor Adeleke, who contested under the platform of the Accord Party, secured his second term by polling 511,067 votes to defeat his primary challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who received 444,815 votes.
​In an official press statement released on Sunday, August 16, 2026, in Ado-Ekiti by the Special Adviser on Media to the Ekiti State Governor, Yinka Oyebode, Governor Oyebanji described the outcome of the poll as a true reflection of the electorate’s democratic choice.
​”This is democracy, and the majority of Osun voters have expressed their preference for the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke,” Oyebanji stated. “Congratulations to Governor Adeleke on the electoral victory. I urge him to be magnanimous in victory and carry other contestants along in the task of building a more prosperous Osun State.”
​Governor Oyebanji highlighted the role of the Federal Government and election managers in ensuring a calm and credible exercise. Oyebanji commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ensuring non-interference and enabling a peaceful atmosphere across all 30 local government areas.
He praised APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji for putting up a strong fight and urged Osun APC members to stay focused and regroup for future elections. The Ekiti Governor applauded INEC officials and security personnel for maintaining order throughout the voting process.
​Addressing political observers, Oyebanji emphasized that the state-level election outcome should not be viewed as a gauge for national politics, assuring that Southwestern support for President Tinubu remains firm ahead of the 2027 presidential polls.
