Officers and men of the Nigeria Police Force embarked on a major route march across key locations in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, to demonstrate operational readiness and reassure residents of security ahead of the governorship election.
​The security exercise commenced at 6:00 AM on Friday morning, from the Osun State Police Command Headquarters located along Ring Road, Osogbo. Tactical units, mobile police personnel, and conventional officers marched through strategic major arteries of the capital, including the Olaiya Flyover, Oke-Fia, Old Garage, Jaleyemi, and the Osogbo-Ikirun road axis.
​Speaking to journalists during the exercise, Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, stated that the route march serves as a clear signal to political actors and potential troublemakers that the police force, in conjunction with sister security agencies, is fully prepared to maintain law and order throughout the electoral process.
​”This show of force is designed to build public confidence, deter troublemakers, and assure voters in Osun State that the police force is fully equipped to guarantee a safe and peaceful environment before, during, and after the election,” Adejobi noted.
Details surrounding the security deployment include the Police Command HQ (Ring Road) \rightarrow Oke-Fia \rightarrow Olaiya Junction \rightarrow Old Garage \rightarrow Station Road \rightarrow Jaleyemi. Nigeria Police Force (NPF), supported by joint patrols with sister agencies.
Strict enforcement of movement restriction orders on election day, zero-tolerance policy towards vote-buying, snatching of ballot boxes, and political thug activities.
​Osun State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Yemisi Opalola, reassured citizens across all 30 Local Government Areas to come out in large numbers to exercise their civic duty without fear of intimidation, reaffirming that security personnel have been deployed to every polling unit and collation center across the state.
