In a major political realignments ahead of Saturday’s gubernatorial contest, the faction of the Peoples Democratic Party led by former Minister Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, officially declared its backing for Governor Ademola Adeleke.
The endorsement was delivered during a joint press conference convened at 11:00 AM on Thursday, August 13, 2026, inside the main auditorium of the Imperial Hotel in Osogbo.
Addressing journalists and party stalwarts, National Publicity Secretary of the faction, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, presented the official declaration on behalf of the national executive body.
He emphasized that the decision followed extensive consultations across the state’s thirty local government areas, framing the alliance as a strategic move to ensure administrative continuity and political stability.
Receiving the faction’s endorsement on behalf of the incumbent governor, Chief Press Secretary Olawale Rasheed welcomed the development as a significant turning point in the campaign narrative.
Speaking to reporters immediately following the briefing, Rasheed noted that the coalition demonstrates a growing consensus among democratic stakeholders to consolidate on developmental progress in Osun State.
With voting scheduled to commence nationwide across all polling units on Saturday morning, the endorsement provides a distinct operational boost to Adeleke’s campaign machinery as voters prepare to head to the polls.
