​Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has met with senior Nigerian Army commanders to formalize the strategic deployment of a new military battalion to Omu-Aran, the headquarters of Irepodun Local Government Area.
​The high-level engagement took place on Tuesday at the Government House in Ilorin, following the arrival of the military operational team.
Governor AbdulRazaq personally received the deployed troops alongside the General Officer Commanding (GOC) and senior officers of the Nigerian Army. The new battalion will be stationed in Omu-Aran, serving as a tactical hub to bolster security across Kwara South and neighboring border communities.
The expansion aims to proactively curb insurgency, banditry, farm security breaches, and kidnapping in the region.
​Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the Governor reiterated the state government’s commitment to supporting security agencies:
​”The establishment of this military formation in Omu-Aran is a major step forward in safeguarding our communities. Kwara State will continue to provide necessary logistics to ensure our troops operate effectively.”
​Military authorities noted that troops have already begun tactical briefings and ground assessments in Omu-Aran to ensure immediate operational readiness.
