The Eniobanke Foundation for Humanity has commenced a three-day free medical outreach for residents of Ilorin, Kwara State, targeting more than 3,000 beneficiaries. The programme, which began at the Emir’s Palace on Wednesday, is aimed at improving access to healthcare for residents, particularly people from less privileged backgrounds.
The Director of Programmes of the foundation, Quadri AbdulSamad, said the outreach was driven by the organisation’s commitment to serving humanity and improving the wellbeing of residents. He said the exercise was being conducted in collaboration with the Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi, Benue State.
AbdulSamad said the outreach would end on Friday at the Tanke area of Ilorin, with more than 3,000 residents expected to receive free medical services. He added that the programme would provide residents with access to qualified medical personnel without the financial burden associated with healthcare.
The Medical Coordinator of the exercise, Ibrahim Saddiq, said beneficiaries would undergo tests for conditions including HIV, high blood pressure, eye problems and blood sugar levels. He added that patients would receive drugs free of charge, while those requiring further treatment would be referred to appropriate specialist hospitals.
The foundation said the outreach would also extend to several other states, including Kwara, Oyo, Ogun, Edo, Cross River, Delta and Plateau. Beneficiaries who spoke during the exercise commended the initiative, saying the free medical services would help reduce the healthcare burden on households amid the current economic difficulties.
