The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has dismissed reports that he is lobbying to become the Director-General of President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign.

Wike said he did not need the position to mobilise support for Tinubu’s re-election in Rivers State and the FCT, stressing that he could contribute to the President’s campaign without holding a formal position.

The former Rivers State governor made the statement while reacting to reports linking him to the leadership of Tinubu’s campaign organisation ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Wike said his focus remained on delivering results in the FCT while supporting the Tinubu administration’s political objectives. He maintained that his loyalty to the President was not dependent on securing an appointment as campaign director-general.

He expressed confidence that his political network and relationships in Rivers State and the FCT would enable him to mobilise support for Tinubu as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
