The Campaign Council of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Gubernatorial Candidate, former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Muhammad Adamu, has pledged to run an issue-driven election campaign focused on governance and civil welfare while eschewing rhetoric capable of provoking political violence.
​The declaration was made on Monday morning during a press briefing at the SDP Campaign Secretariat along Jos Road, Lafia, Nasarawa State.
​Speaking at 10:30 AM before journalists and party faithfuls, the Director of Media and Strategic Communications for the campaign council, Dr. Danjuma Ibrahim, emphasized that the team is committed to strictly adhering to electoral guidelines and elevating political discourse.
​”Our campaign will be built entirely around the real concerns of the electorate security, youth empowerment, rural infrastructure, and economic revitalization. We will not indulge in campaigns of calumny, personal attacks, or inflammatory language capable of creating unrest in our state,” Dr. Ibrahim stated.
Rallies and town halls will center on policy proposals addressing local economic development and public welfare. All campaign coordinators across local government areas have been directed to maintain peace and report any security concerns immediately to law enforcement agencies.
The council announced plans for a series of zonal town halls across the three senatorial districts to directly engage community leaders, trade unions, and youth organizations.
​Also speaking at the venue, the State Chairman of the SDP, Hon. Silas Agbo, reassured voters that former IGP Adamu’s background in law enforcement and administration positions him uniquely to address peace, stability, and development in the state.
​The campaign council confirmed that the official flag-off of statewide rallies will take place on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Lafia Township Stadium.
