The socio-political group Concerned Rivers People (CRP) has stated that alleged private gatherings involving key political figures will not destabilize or weaken the unity of the Rainbow Coalition in Rivers State.
​The assertion was made in an official press release issued on Sunday, August 9, 2026, by the group’s Publicity Secretary, Sunny Nwagbo, in Port Harcourt.
​According to the statement, the CRP alleged that a closed-door meeting was convened during the late hours of Saturday, August 8, 2026, at the Port Harcourt private residence of Mrs. Joy Nunieh, the former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). The gathering reportedly included Gabriel Pidomson and Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, with discussions centered on political strategies surrounding the coalition.
​Speaking on behalf of the group, Nwagbo clarified that the Rainbow Coalition remains a collective platform built on shared political objectives rather than individual agendas. He emphasized that private discussions hosted at personal venues cannot alter the standing commitments or future direction of the broader alliance.
​Nwagbo further urged all stakeholders within the state to prioritize open collaboration and public accountability over private consultations that could provoke unnecessary political speculation.
​As of Sunday evening, Mrs. Joy Nunieh, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, and Gabriel Pidomson had not issued any public response regarding the allegations made in the CRP statement.
