CP Nnanna Oji Ama officially assumed duty on Monday, August 10, 2026, as the 36th Commissioner of Police for the Anambra State Police Command Headquarters in Awka, following a strategic national redeployment approved by the Police Service Commission and Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu.
​CP Ama takes over leadership from retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Ikioye Orutugu, who recently retired from the Nigeria Police Force. The Official Spokespersons, SP Tochukwu Ikenga as Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Command and CSP Aniete Iniedu as Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja.
​In an official press statement released in Awka by Command Spokesman SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the new Commissioner reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening security collaboration across the state.
​”The new Commissioner of Police has expressed his firm commitment to consolidating existing security gains in Anambra State and strengthening strategic collaboration among the Police, sister security agencies, traditional institutions, community leaders, youths, women, and other critical stakeholders.” SP Tochukwu Ikenga assures people of Anambra.
​Prior to his posting to Anambra, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, a native of Ekata in Edda Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, served as Commissioner of Police (Intelligence and Training) at the Force Intelligence Department (FID), Force Headquarters, Abuja. With over three decades of distinguished service and a B.Sc. in Psychology from the University of Jos, CP Ama brings deep operational and intelligence experience to the command.
​Confirming the nationwide postings, Force Public Relations Officer CSP Aniete Iniedu noted that IGP Disu’s approved redeployments aim to enhance operational effectiveness, strengthen command leadership, and drive ongoing structural reforms within the Nigeria Police Force.
