The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Lagos Directorate, in collaboration with Alpha Designs Nigeria Ltd., on Saturday hosted its maiden staff fitness walk to promote healthy living, physical fitness, and workplace productivity.

The event, which kicked off at 7:00 a.m., saw management, editorial staff, and administrative personnel gather at the NAN Lagos Directorate headquarters on Arts and Culture Way, Iganmu, Lagos.

Participants walked a designated 5-kilometer route through key areas of the Iganmu industrial corridor before returning to the agency’s premises for aerobic sessions and health screenings.

Speaking at the event, the Director of the NAN Lagos Directorate, Mr. Ephraim Sheyin, emphasized the critical link between physical health and job performance in a high-pressure industry like journalism.

”A healthy workforce is the backbone of any productive organization, especially in the fast-paced world of news reporting,” Sheyin said. “This initiative is designed to encourage our staff to adopt active lifestyles, manage work-related stress, and build stronger camaraderie outside the newsroom.”

Chief Executive Officer of Alpha Designs Nigeria Ltd., Mrs. Funke Adebayo, highlighted the corporate responsibility aspect of the partnership, noting that wellness initiatives are essential investments in human capital.

”We are proud to partner with NAN on this maiden edition,” Adebayo stated. “Physical fitness goes beyond exercise; it builds resilience and sharpens focus. Supporting the health of media professionals who keep the nation informed is a cause we deeply value.”

A 5 km stretch starting from the NAN Iganmu complex, passing through Eric Moore Road, and looping back to the starting point. On-site medical personnel provided complimentary blood pressure, blood sugar, and body mass index (BMI) checks for all participants.

Professional fitness trainers led a 45-minute post-walk cooldown and stretching session. Organizers confirmed that the fitness walk will now become a quarterly fixture on the agency’s calendar, with plans to expand future editions to include other media organizations in Lagos State.
