Grammy-nominated Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has launched a subtle yet fierce counter-attack on Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo after the governor publicly mocked Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke over his signature dancing routine.
​On Friday afternoon, August 7, 2026, Davido posted what appeared to be Governor Okpebholo’s West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) result on his verified Instagram Stories. The post, which carried no written caption, showed grades including D7 in English Language, Commerce, Economics, and Christian Religious Knowledge, an E8 in Government, and a C5 in Mathematics.
​The social media clapback came less than 24 hours after Governor Okpebholo took jabs at Governor Adeleke, Davido’s uncle, during a major All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, in Osogbo, Osun State.
​Governor Okpebholo had joined fellow party stalwarts, including Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, at the APC Mega Rally organized to galvanize support for the party’s Osun governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), ahead of the upcoming August 15, 2026 Osun State governorship election.
​While addressing the crowd of party supporters at the venue, the Edo State governor criticized Governor Adeleke’s leadership style, questioning his focus on governance and ridiculing his famous dance moves.
​”Before somebody signs paper, he will dance. Are you not tired? For four years, this man has been dancing. Before he takes breakfast, before he drinks tea, he will dance,” Okpebholo told the crowd. “Before he even enters the plane he will dance. Before he gets there, we have closed, so he won’t know what we are saying. He doesn’t even know the reality of today.”
​Okpebholo also urged the Osun electorate to collect financial inducements from political opponents but cast their ballots for the APC candidate on election day.
​Davido’s silent response quickly went viral across major social media platforms, sparking intense debate among political analysts, fans, and voters in Osun State. The singer has been actively involved on the campaign trail for his uncle, attending rallies across the state and advocating for a free, fair, and peaceful election process.
​As of Friday evening, neither Governor Okpebholo’s chief press secretary nor the Edo State Ministry of Information had issued an official statement regarding the leaked examination document. Meanwhile, political campaigns across Osun State continue to intensify as the August 15 governorship poll draws near.
