The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has warned Nigerians at home and in the diaspora, as well as foreign nationals, against using unauthorised platforms for passport and visa payments.

The warning was issued via its official social media platforms on Wednesday in Abuja

The NIS reiterated that it had not partnered with any religious organisation, private entity or individual to receive payments on its behalf.

Its said the only authorised platform for passport payments is its official portal, while separate official links existed for visa applications at Nigerian embassies and electronic visa applications.

“Nigerians applying for passports, whether residing in the country or abroad, are advised to make payments only through the official passport portal,” it said.

The NIS added that foreigners seeking visas to Nigeria should use the designated official platforms for visa applications at Nigerian embassies or for electronic visa applications.

It urged members of the public to be vigilant and avoid patronising unauthorised persons or platforms to prevent falling victim to fraud and other related crimes.

The NIS advised applicants requiring clarification, assistance or wishing to lodge complaints relating to passport or visa applications to contact its verified communication channels for prompt response and support.

The service listed its verified communication channels to include its official X handle, Facebook and Instagram pages, as well as dedicated WhatsApp lines for enquiries and assistance.

It reiterated its commitment to transparent and efficient service delivery and urged the public to always verify information relating to immigration services through its official platforms.
