In a decisive move to tackle educational inequality, British Airways has partnered with the IA-Foundation to distribute laptops to vulnerable children, aiming to bridge the country’s digital divide and promote tech-enabled learning.
​The corporate social responsibility initiative was marked by an official handover ceremony in Lagos on Saturday, July 18, 2026. The event brought together representatives from the international airline and the UK-registered non-governmental organisation, which is dedicated to rescuing out-of-school children in Nigeria and returning them to the classroom.
​The donation of 10 laptops is designed to integrate modern technology into the charity’s ongoing educational programs, giving underprivileged students the tools needed to develop essential digital literacy skills.
​The items were received by the Chairman of the IA-Foundation, Diran Famakinwa. Presenting the equipment on behalf of British Airways were Account Managers Lady Peju Diya and Bodunrin, alongside Administration Manager Matthew Akano.
​The foundation’s leadership emphasized that access to computers is no longer a luxury, but a necessity for academic survival.
​”This partnership with British Airways is a milestone for our beneficiaries,” said Ope Adedara, Programme Manager of the IA-Foundation. “These laptops will instantly enhance our learning centers, ensuring that children from disadvantaged backgrounds are not left behind in today’s digital economy.”
​IA-Foundation Founder, Ibironke Adeagbo, praised the airline’s intervention, noting that sustainable change happens when corporate entities actively invest in grassroots social development. The foundation confirmed that the new devices will be deployed immediately to support the students’ daily coursework and tech training.
