The Senator representing Borno South Senatorial District, Mohammed Ali Ndume, has thrown his full weight behind the decision of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to retain Vice President Kashim Shettima on the joint ticket for the 2027 presidential race.

Speaking to journalists in Abuja over the weekend, Senator Ndume characterized the development as a significant, unifying step that guarantees the party a smooth pathway to electoral victory.

According to the federal lawmaker, the decision to maintain the status quo reinforces stability within the ruling party and demonstrates a deep respect for political consistency.

”The re-emergence of Vice President Kashim Shettima as the running mate to President Bola Tinubu is not just the right decision; it is a strategic masterstroke,” Ndume stated. “Shettima has proven his loyalty, capacity, and political clout, particularly across the North. This ticket ensures that the APC remains a formidable force ahead of the 2027 general elections.”

Ndume, a prominent voice in the National Assembly, noted that the Tinubu-Shettima partnership has navigated complex national challenges since assuming office in 2023, making their joint continuation essential for the continuity of the administration’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.

The endorsement comes on the heels of the formal submission of President Tinubu’s expression of interest and nomination forms to the APC national leadership earlier this year. Political analysts have pointed out that maintaining Shettima—a former two-term Governor of Borno State—safeguards the APC’s stronghold in the core northern states, mitigating regional anxieties and silencing speculations regarding a potential shake-up of the ticket.

Ndume urged party faithful and stakeholders across the 36 states to close ranks and channel their energies into supporting the administration’s ongoing economic reforms. He expressed absolute confidence that the Nigerian electorate would overwhelmingly renew the mandate of the Tinubu-Shettima ticket come 2027.
