The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced the indefinite suspension of Online Integrated Solution (OIS Services), the third-party company responsible for operating Nigeria’s Visa Application Centres across the United States.
​The suspension took effect retroactively on July 1, 2026. The directive was made public on Thursday, July 9, 2026, in an official statement issued in Abuja by the Service Public Relations Officer (SPRO), Deputy Comptroller of Immigration (DCI) Mr. Akinsola Akinlabi.
​According to the NIS, the suspension means OIS Services will no longer handle the collection and submission of Nigerian visa applications in the U.S. until further notice.
​Consequent to the disengagement, DCI Akinlabi advised all prospective travelers and members of the public seeking Nigerian visas within the United States to bypass the private firm and apply directly through official diplomatic channels.
​Moving forward, applications must be submitted to The Embassy of Nigeria in Washington, D.C., The Consulate General of Nigeria in New York and The Consulate General of Nigeria in Atlanta.
​”The public should note that adequate measures have been put in place to ensure seamless submission, processing, and issuance of visas,” the statement noted, reassurance that the transition would not disrupt services.
​The NIS further clarified that the operational halt specifically applies to physical visa application submissions previously handled by OIS at the application centres. It emphasized that Nigeria’s automated e-visa system remains fully active and unaffected by the suspension for eligible prospective travelers.
​While the immigration authority did not disclose the specific reasons behind the abrupt termination of the partnership, the statement urged applicants to regularly monitor the official communication channels of the Nigeria Immigration Service and the respective Nigerian Missions in the U.S. for updated procedural guidelines.
