The Sokoto State Government has named a newly constructed road after the Minister of Defence, retired Gen. Christopher Musa, in recognition of his contributions to state and national development.

The road was inaugurated by Musa on Wednesday, shortly after he received 62 armoured vehicles and 300 motorcycles donated to security agencies by the state government.

In his address, Gov. Ahmad Aliyu said the state recognised Musa’s contributions from childhood, noting that he was born, raised and schooled in Sokoto.

Aliyu explained that Musa always identified with Sokoto and had contributed immensely to his alma mater as well as to other activities in the state.

“We acknowledge his patriotism, selfless service and dedication to national development,” Aliyu said.

Responding, Musa expressed appreciation for the honour, saying the recognition would always be remembered and would serve as a historic reference for future generations.

He added that the honour would further motivate him in his service to the nation and urged citizens to support government efforts to end banditry, terrorism and other security challenges.
