Veteran Nollywood actor and politician, Emeka Ike, has warned Nigerian women about marriage.
Responding to the popular belief that marriage is a scam. He said women should not go into marriage because of money. According to him, marriage is not a scam, but some people turn it into one when they use it as a way to survive due to financial problems.
He shared his views in a recent interview with BBC News.
He said love and marriage are not scams, but some people use relationships to survive financially. He added that this is what makes it look like a scam.
He also said true love is beautiful and that relationships should be based on honesty, not hidden motives or money.
Emeka Ike advised Nigerians not to pretend to love someone while secretly looking for personal gain. He said good relationships need understanding, patience, and willingness to support each other during hard times.
He also warned Nigerian girls not to listen to women whose marriages have failed and are active on social media. He advised them not to bring such advice into their own marriages.
He added that every relationship is different, and couples should focus on solving their own problems instead of comparing their marriage to others or following social media opinions.
For those who may not know, Emeka Ike was married to a South African woman, Suzanne Emma Ike. They were married for several years and had children together, but later separated.
Their marriage ended in a bitter divorce, with issues like domestic problems, money disagreements, and a long court battle over their children. The case became very popular in Nollywood.
After the divorce, his ex-wife made some public claims about their marriage, and Emeka Ike also shared his own side, saying he was treated unfairly.
After the separation, reports said Emeka Ike got married again, but he has kept his new family life private.
