Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola has commenced the re electrification of more than 50 communities in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of Ogun State in an effort to restore electricity to areas that have experienced years of power outages.
The senator, who represents Ogun West Senatorial District, announced the project during a meeting with political leaders and community stakeholders, where he disclosed that contractors had been mobilised to commence work immediately.
According to Adeola, the project is part of a broader package of 12 electricity projects designed to improve power supply across communities in Ogun Waterside.
He said the intervention is intended to restore electricity to communities that have been without a stable power supply for more than 17 years, adding that improved electricity would support economic activities, healthcare, education and small businesses.
Adeola also disclosed that significant funds had been committed to the project, describing electricity as essential to economic growth and community development.
The lawmaker noted that the initiative builds on previous electrification projects across Ogun State, including the distribution of transformers to hundreds of communities and community development associations to improve electricity access.
Community leaders welcomed the project, expressing optimism that the restoration of electricity would improve living conditions and stimulate economic activities in the affected communities.
The re-electrification project forms part of ongoing constituency interventions aimed at improving infrastructure and expanding access to basic services across Ogun West Senatorial District.
