The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has introduced a toll-free emergency line, 193, to encourage Nigerians to provide timely and credible information to support ongoing military operations nationwide.

The Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Michael Onoja, announced the initiative while briefing newsmen on the operations of the Armed Force on Wednesday in Abuja.

Onoja urged members of the public to continue providing timely and accurate information through the nearest military formation or the newly introduced toll-free line 193.

He assured Nigerians that all information received through the hotline would be treated with the highest level of confidentiality to protect informants.

Onoja emphasised that national security remained a shared responsibility, urging citizens to continue supporting the Armed Forces through vigilance and credible intelligence.

He conveyed the commendation of the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, to troops for their gallantry and discipline across various theatres of operation.

According to him, Oluyede also appreciated civilian communities, the Civilian Joint Task Force, local vigilante groups and other security agencies for their cooperation and intelligence support to military operations.

Onoja reaffirmed the commitment of the armed forces to sustain and intensify operations against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping and other security threats until all operational theatres are stabilised.

According to him, the military remains determined to create conditions that will enable displaced persons to return home safely and allow all Nigerians to live in freedom, safety and dignity.
