Former Niger Delta agitator and philanthropist, Mr Endurance Amagbein, has urged Nigerians to remain calm amid the country’s security challenges and support ongoing efforts by security agencies to restore peace ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Amagbein made the appeal in a statement issued on Monday, warning against actions capable of worsening the security situation. He alleged that some opposition figures were exploiting insecurity for political advantage and urged Nigerians to place national interest above partisan politics.
“Nigerians should remain calm and support the Federal Government and security agencies in their fight against insecurity. We must not allow desperate politicians to use the security situation as a tool for 2027 campaigns,” he said.
He stressed that although the country continues to grapple with banditry, kidnapping and insurgency, security agencies have recorded progress through sustained military operations and intelligence-led interventions.
Amagbein also appealed to young people, particularly in the Niger Delta and other volatile areas, to reject violence and embrace peaceful dialogue as political activities gather momentum ahead of the next general elections.
He further called on political leaders, traditional rulers and civil society organisations to work together in promoting peace and national unity, stressing that a stable environment is essential for credible elections and sustainable development.
The appeal comes amid growing political activities ahead of the 2027 elections and continued public concern over insecurity in parts of the country.
