The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has stated it will withhold further comments on the recent court judgment voiding the registration of the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) until it receives a certified true copy of the ruling.​
Speaking on the development, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, emphasized that the commission must study the official legal document before determining its next course of action.
​”The commission cannot make further comments until it officially receives the judgment,” Haruna stated, maintaining the electoral body’s standard protocol of reviewing formal legal texts before issuing definitive statements or executing court orders.
His remarks which comes after Justice Isah Dashen of the Federal High Court in Lokoja nullified the court’s earlier judgment of December 10, 2025, which had ordered INEC to register the Nigeria Democratic Congress as a political party.
​The judgment, which nullifies the registration of the political group, has sparked widespread discussion across the political landscape. Legal analysts suggest that INEC’s cautious approach is standard procedure to ensure total compliance with the specific directives laid out by the court.​
