The Oyo State Government’s specialised task force for the Sen. Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road has intensified enforcement activities to prevent abuse of the corridor, leading to the apprehension of defaulters.
Mrs Mofoluke Adebiyi, Executive Adviser to the Governor and Head of the Oyo State New Towns and Cities Development Authority (OYNTCDA), disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.
Adebiyi said that the surveillance focused on the paved Phase 1 of the high-speed motorway, covering the 32.2 kilometre stretch from the Technical University access on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to Badeku Junction on the Ibadan-Ife highway.
She added that the operation involved all the representative Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) that constitute the task force.
The OYNTCDA boss further stated that the high point of the operation was the arrest of several defaulters, including the driver of an overloaded commercial bus, whose vehicle broke down and was grounded on the tarred road.
“Other vehicles were also impounded for unauthorised use of the highway before its official inauguration and tolling for public use.
“All seized vehicles and goods were taken to the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority headquarters on the orders of the OYRTMA Chairman, Major Adesagba Adekoya (rtd.).
“Owners and drivers are to be arraigned before a mobile court for trial to be conducted by the Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority,”she said.
According to Adebiyi, the task force also removed shanty kiosks used for trading within the road’s setback and cleared planks, pebbles, and sand used as unauthorised vehicle driveways on drains.
She explained that the Circular Road Joint Task Force was set up in October 2025 to safeguard government investment by stopping illegal construction, excavation, unauthorised parking, vandalism, and open grazing along the corridor.
