Court remands AAC Presidential candidate in Kuje Correctional Center

Justice Muhammad Umar of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, has remanded the presidential aspirant of AAC Omoyele Sowore in Kuje Correctional Center

Mr Sowore will be in Kuje pending the hearing of the application filed by his new counsel seeking the court to set aside the order that revoked his bail.

At the last adjourned date Mr Sowore was absent from court, which prompted the prosecution to ask the court to revoke his bail alleging delay tactics

Although Mr Sowore had sent a letter to the court at the last sitting seeking an adjournment, he did not however state any reason for his absence.

At the day’s proceedings, Mr Sowore was present in court and represented by Olumide Fusika, a senior Advocate of Nigeria.

Justice Muhammed Umar, in a short ruling, ordered Sowore to be kept in the correctional centre pending the hearing and determination of his motion for set aside the order for revocation of his bail and bench warrant.

Justice Umar also dismissed Sowore’s ealier application seeking the judge’s recusal from the case on the ground of alleged bias.

The matter was adjourned until June 24th for hearing of the application.

The DSS is prosecuting Sowore for allegedly making false claims against the person of President Bola Tinubu in a post he made on his “X” and Facebook accounts.
