Residents of Njikoka Local Government Area have been commended for their unwavering support for Chinenye, a young girl whose heartfelt appreciation speech emerged as one of the defining moments of the 2026 United Nations World Sickle Cell Day celebration held at the B2 Division.
Speaking after the event, a community leader expressed profound gratitude to the people of Njikoka for nurturing and encouraging the young girl, whose emotional remarks reportedly moved members of the audience to tears and drew sustained applause from participants at the gathering.
The speaker appealed to residents to continue supporting Chinenye, describing her as a promising young ambassador whose resilience, determination and gratitude have become a source of inspiration to many. He expressed confidence that she would continue to make her community proud and justify the trust reposed in her.
Drawing attention to the challenges faced by individuals and families living with sickle cell disorder, he noted that many people endure difficult circumstances that often go unnoticed. He stressed the need for greater compassion and collective support, particularly for vulnerable children and familles requiring medical and social assistance.
He also praised the management of Chinenye’s school for its commitment to her development and wellbeing.
According to him, the young girl’s memorable speech served as a powerful reminder of the importance of gratitude, faith and hope in the face of adversity. He further prayed for God’s continued blessings upon the Nigerian Army for its support of humanitarian and health awareness initiatives.
