Peter Obi donates additional ₦25 million to Shanahan University Onitsha

The Presidential Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Peter Obi, has made an additional donation of N25 million towards the development of Shanahan University, Onitsha, Anambra State.

Presenting the cheque at the Shanahan Hall of Holy Trinity Basilica, Onitsha, Obi reaffirmed his belief that investment in education remains one of the most effective ways of building a productive and prosperous society.

Addressing the students, he emphasized that education goes beyond the acquisition of certificates, stressing that it should equip individuals with the knowledge, character, and skills needed to contribute meaningfully to society. He urged them to remain focused on their studies and aspire to become responsible leaders capable of transforming Nigeria.

Speaking during the event, Rev. Fr. Basil Ekwunife expressed deep appreciation for Obi’s continued support for educational and social causes. He commended Obi’s dedication to humanity, nation-building, and public service, describing him as a leader distinguished by vision, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to societal progress.

According to Ekwunife, Obi possesses the qualities required to provide effective leadership and has consistently demonstrated the passion and energy needed to drive national development.

Also speaking, the Vice-Chancellor of Shanahan University, Rev. Fr. Prof. Josephat Oguejiofor, thanked Obi for his sustained support for the institution. He recalled the numerous interventions Obi has made since the university’s establishment, noting that many of them were offered without any prior request.

Prof. Oguejiofor described Obi as a genuine friend of education whose actions continually reflect a strong commitment to societal advancement.

He further explained that Shanahan University’s vision is to produce graduates who are not only academically excellent but also morally upright and socially responsible.

According to him, the institution remains committed to nurturing individuals who will make meaningful contributions to national development and the wider society.
