The Senator representing Edo Central Senatorial District, Senator Joseph Ikpea, has officially thrown his weight behind Governor Monday Okpebholo’s proposal to establish a special court dedicated to the speedy trial of kidnappers and cultists in Edo State.
Speaking on the initiative, Senator Ikpea emphasized that the creation of a specialized judicial division is a critical step toward ensuring the quick dispensation of justice and restoring absolute peace to the state.
He noted that prolonged legal processes often weaken the fight against violent crimes, making a dedicated court a necessary intervention. ”Securing the lives and property of our people must remain our topmost priority,” Ikpea stated.
“By setting up a special court for kidnapping and cultism, Governor Okpebholo is taking a decisive stand against criminality, ensuring that offenders face swift legal consequences without unnecessary delays.”
The lawmaker further urged all relevant stakeholders in the justice sector and the state legislature to fully support the executive bill, stressing that a safer Edo State would naturally pave the way for increased economic growth and sustainable development.
