Troops of the Joint Task Force Northwest, Operation Fansan Yamma, have successfully rescued 17 kidnapped victims after a coordinated operation against bandits in Sokoto State.

The successful rescue operation took place in Kura Mota village, located within the Sabon Birni Local Government Area of the state.

A credible security source from the area disclosed the development to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday.

According to the source, the troops leveraged actionable intelligence to close in on the bandits’ enclave, forcing the criminals to abandon their victims and flee into the surrounding forests under heavy military pressure.

”The troops’ swift and decisive response disrupted the bandits’ plans, ensuring all 17 captives were brought out alive and unharmed,” the source stated.

The rescued victims are currently undergoing profiling and medical evaluations before they are formally reunited with their families.

This latest breakthrough comes amid intensified kinetic operations by Operation Fansan Yamma across the Northwest region, aimed at eliminating terrorist hideouts, denying non-state actors safe havens, and restoring stability to vulnerable communities.
