The Federal Government has generated N6.148 billion from the public auction of a Lagos hotel and three other premium properties seized from convicted drug barons. The assets were permanently forfeited to the government through federal court processes following successful prosecutions by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
The public auction represents a major milestone in the government’s ongoing efforts to deny criminals the proceeds of their illicit trades. ​The proceeds from the auction have been remitted directly into the Federal Government’s Consolidated Revenue Fund to support national development projects and strengthen law enforcement infrastructure. ​

By turning the proceeds of crime over to the national treasury, officials note that the funds will now be redirected toward public infrastructure and strengthening law enforcement capabilities across the country.
