The Bauchi State Police Command has recorded a significant breakthrough in its ongoing fight against kidnapping and violent crimes with the rescue of two abducted victims and the arrest of five suspected kidnappers in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State. The command disclosed the development in a statement issued on Friday by its spokesperson, Nafiu Habib.
According to the statement, the incident occurred on June 2, 2026, when armed men invaded the residence of a villager in Kwarin Gadali Hamlet, located in Pali District of Alkaleri Local Government Area, and abducted the man’s 40-year-old wife alongside his 25-year-old son. The attack reportedly threw the quiet rural community into panic as residents feared further assaults by criminal elements operating within the area.
Habib explained that the police immediately swung into action after receiving a report of the abduction, deploying operatives from the Pali Outstation to the scene of the incident to commence investigations and rescue operations. “Upon receipt of the report, operatives from Pali Outstation immediately visited the scene of the crime and commenced intelligence-led operations to track the perpetrators and secure the release of the victims,” the police spokesperson stated.
According to him, the swift response by security operatives and the deployment of intelligence resources played a major role in tracking the suspects and facilitating the successful rescue of the victims. The spokesperson noted that the operation eventually led to the arrest of five suspects believed to have been involved in the kidnapping incident.
Although details regarding the identities of the suspects were not immediately disclosed, the police said investigations were ongoing to uncover the full network behind the criminal operation and determine whether the suspects were linked to other kidnapping cases within the state and neighbouring communities.
Habib stated that the rescued victims were safely recovered during the operation and had since been reunited with their family members. He added that the command remains committed to intensifying efforts against kidnapping, banditry and other violent crimes threatening the safety of residents in different parts of Bauchi State.
The police spokesperson further assured residents that security agencies would continue to strengthen surveillance, intelligence gathering and tactical operations aimed at dismantling criminal groups operating within the state. According to him, the command has also continued to work closely with local communities and stakeholders to improve information sharing and support security operations.
The successful rescue operation has been welcomed by residents and community leaders in Alkaleri Local Government Area, many of whom commended the police for their prompt response and professionalism in handling the case. Some residents noted that the increasing collaboration between local communities and security agencies has become essential in combating kidnapping and other criminal activities in rural areas.
Kidnapping for ransom and violent attacks have remained major security concerns in several parts of northern Nigeria, with security agencies intensifying efforts to tackle criminal networks responsible for such crimes. Analysts say intelligence-driven policing and stronger cooperation between residents and law enforcement agencies are increasingly becoming important strategies in addressing insecurity and improving public safety.
The Bauchi State Police Command reiterated its appeal to members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious movements or criminal activities to security agencies. Habib stressed that public cooperation remains critical to achieving lasting success in the fight against crime and maintaining peace across communities in the state.
He assured that the five suspects currently in custody would be thoroughly investigated and prosecuted in accordance with the law once investigations are concluded.
The command also reaffirmed its determination to sustain ongoing operations against criminal elements and ensure that residents of Bauchi State continue to enjoy improved security and protection of lives and property.
