The Yoruba film industry is mourning the tragic death of popular actor, filmmaker and comedian Okiki Adeshina, popularly known as Janmole. The actor reportedly died on Monday, June 1, 2026, from injuries sustained in a road accident while returning from a movie-related engagement, leaving colleagues and fans shocked by the sudden loss.
His death was confirmed by Bolaji Amusan, popularly known as Mr Latin and President of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria. In an Instagram post, he expressed sorrow over the incident and prayed for the repose of the late actor’s soul, describing the loss as a painful one for the industry.
Tributes have continued to pour in from fellow actors, filmmakers and fans, many of whom remembered Janmole as a talented entertainer known for his memorable performances and dedication to Yoruba cinema. Several colleagues also praised his contributions to the growth of the industry and his commitment to his craft.
Janmole’s death comes at a time when the Yoruba movie industry is still grieving the loss of another veteran actor.
