The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has issued a formal statement in which they vehemently warned critics to stop spreading false messages, slander and libel against its general overseer and cleric, Pastor E.A Adeboye, sparking intense debates between loyal church members and secular citizens.
In statements released today, June 2nd 2026, the church claims the statements, comments and so called verified facts which have been made stipulating or linking the church and its general overseer to one political party or another are utterly false and as such damage the reputations of the church and all associated with it.
The statement goes further on to clarify these statements made were a deliberate attempt by parties to damage the good works the church does in an attempt to further drive propaganda and malicious sentiment in the eyes of the public.
Solidifying the stance of the church, “Let it be clearly stated: Pastor Adeboye and The RCCG will not be defined by falsehood, and neither will the Church remain silent while inaccurate narratives are repeatedly circulated as facts,” the statement said warning that moving forward, all statements and narratives put forward would be challenged.
The statement further explained that the church has its personal official channels monitored and managed by authorized personnel responsible for the dissemination of any relevant information including communicating the positions of the church on prevalent matters. Urging the public not to treat any claim about Adeboye or the church as official unless such information is communicated, verified or endorsed through the church’s recognized public relations platform.
The church goes further to put content publishers on notice saying reports about the church and its general overseer must be thoroughly verified before publication, “Going forward, any publication concerning Pastor E.A. Adeboye or
The RCCG should be properly fact-checked through the Church’s official PR platform before being presented as fact.” Citing the general lack of journalistic ethics and code of conduct, the statement also clarifies its stance on the propaganda and misinformation mill with a warning to journalists and bloggers alike “To bloggers, commentators, media platforms, and content publishers: this serves as a clear notice.
Accuracy is not optional. Responsible journalism requires verification,” RCCG said. Explaining the explicit danger posed by the propaganda spread, the statement went on to ratify “The public deserves the truth, not speculation. The Church deserves fairness, not distortion. Pastor Adeboye deserves accuracy, not manufactured narratives”, it added.
In its final remarks, the statement goes on to urge members of the public to verify claims and reports seen before taking them as factual truths and going on to share such unverified information. “Verify before you believe. Fact-check before you publish. Truth matters,” the church said.
