The Peoples Democratic Party interim factional National Working Committee led by Tanimu Turaki on Tuesday screened 12 governorship aspirants ahead of the 2027 general elections and reportedly granted automatic clearance to former President Goodluck Jonathan as the party’s sole presidential aspirant.
The development emerged after a screening exercise conducted in Abuja by a committee chaired by former Vice President Namadi Sambo and represented by former Niger State Governor Babangida Aliyu.
Speaking with journalists after the exercise, Aliyu disclosed that the committee had concluded the screening of governorship aspirants while also granting Jonathan what was described as automatic clearance to contest the presidency on the platform of the party.
