The Knights of Saint Mulumba Nigeria has initiated an enduring legacy fund to cater for the church through evangelism, to help her needy members as well as the less privileged in the society. Known as KSM Endowment Fund Initiative, it is the brain child of the current leadership of the Order led by the Supreme Knight Sir Steve Adehi, SAN, CKSM, KCSS, following his election as Supreme Knight in November last year.
According to Sir Adehi, the KSM Endowment Fund “is designed to serve as a perpetual financial bedrock for the future of the Order and for the Church”.
According to him, only interests on the fund will be ploughed back into evangelism, serving humanity and the Church, as well as taking care of needy Knights and Ladies of the Order while the principal capital itself will be domiciled in a dedicated bank account to be managed by financial experts and fund managers with periodic auditing exercise.
In the words of Sir Adehi, “by preserving the principal capital and utilizing only the investment returns, the Order ensures it can meet its obligations for generations to come”.
Sir Adehi emphasized that the Fund Initiative is not principally a business idea but an initiative to safeguard the future of the Church and the Order. “This is not merely a financial initiative; it is an investment in the future stability, independence, and effectiveness of our noble Order and the Church of Christ,” stated the Supreme Knight.
Sir Steve Adehi, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, assured members of the Fraternity that the initiative will be incorporated into the KSM Constitution through an amendment of relevant sections to ensure the perpetuity of the initiative and to ensure that no future leadership of KSM toys with the Fund without the approval of a fully constituted National Convention of the Order through a constitutional amendment.
The Endowment Fund is also aimed at “providing a dependable income stream, to significantly decrease the frequency of levies on individual members”, Sir Adehi added.
The Supreme Knight therefore invites all, Knights and non Knights alike; to embrace this “Fraternal Call to Participate” in the scheme through voluntary contributions so that by so doing everyone becomes a co-builder of the lasting legacy.
