The Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, has donated food items and other relief materials to victims of the recent deadly attack on Ngbrazongo community in Kwall District of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The donation was presented on Monday during a visit to the affected community by officials of the ministry led by Benard Doro alongside Caleb Mutfwang.
The intervention followed the tragic attack that occurred on May 8 when gunmen reportedly invaded the Ngbrazongo community, killing several residents and leaving many others injured.
The incident, which caused widespread grief and displacement within the area, is one of the latest violent attacks to hit parts of Plateau State in recent months, raising fresh concerns over insecurity and communal safety in the region.
Addressing the affected residents during the presentation of the relief materials, Doro expressed deep sympathy to families who lost loved ones in the attack and assured them that the Federal Government remained committed to restoring peace and stability in Plateau State.
“We are here on behalf of the federal government to present these items as a form of succour to our people who were recently attacked,” he said.
Doro, who is also a native of the area, described the attack as painful and unfortunate, noting that the suffering of the victims had deeply touched both the state and federal authorities.
He explained that the relief materials were intended to provide immediate assistance to displaced families and individuals affected by the violence, especially those struggling with food shortages and temporary displacement.
According to him, the Federal Government has already initiated measures and security strategies aimed at addressing the recurring attacks and improving security across vulnerable communities in Plateau State.
He stressed that authorities were determined to prevent further bloodshed and ensure that residents could return to their normal lives without fear.
The humanitarian official further urged residents to remain united and cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information that could help prevent future attacks.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang, who accompanied the delegation, also commiserated with the affected families and reiterated his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
The governor described the killings as heartbreaking and unacceptable, stressing that government would continue to collaborate with federal authorities and security agencies to tackle insecurity in Plateau communities.
Mutfwang assured residents that efforts were ongoing to strengthen security presence in affected areas and improve rapid response mechanisms to emerging threats.
He also called for calm among the people, urging them not to resort to retaliation or actions capable of escalating tensions within the region.
The governor praised the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction for its swift response and support to the victims during their difficult moment.
Residents of the community who received the relief materials expressed appreciation to the Federal Government and Plateau State Government for the intervention, although many appealed for stronger security measures to prevent future attacks.
