Preparations have reached an advanced stage for the 2026 Southern Kaduna Festival as Vice President Kashim Shettima, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, and several prominent political leaders across the country are expected to grace the annual cultural celebration scheduled to hold in Kafanchan, Kaduna State.
The highly anticipated event, organised by the Southern Kaduna Leadership Council, is billed to take place from May 28 to May 30, 2026, and is already attracting national attention due to the calibre of dignitaries expected to attend.
Details of the festival were contained in a statement issued on Monday and signed by the Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Ferguson Bobai.
According to the organisers, Vice President Shettima will serve as the Special Guest of Honour during the closing ceremony of the three-day event, while former President Obasanjo has been designated as the Father of the Day.
The organisers also disclosed that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, alongside no fewer than five state governors from different parts of the country, would participate in the festival as guests of honour.
Although the names of the governors were not officially released in the statement, sources close to the planning committee hinted that several governors from the North-Central and South-South regions had already confirmed attendance.
The Southern Kaduna Festival, regarded as one of the largest cultural gatherings in Northern Nigeria, is aimed at promoting peace, unity, cultural identity, tourism, and economic development within Southern Kaduna communities.

Residents of Kafanchan and surrounding communities have already begun preparing for the influx of visitors, tourists, government officials, and cultural enthusiasts expected during the three-day programme.
Hotels, transport operators, traders, and local businesses are also anticipating increased economic activities as thousands of participants are projected to attend the event.
