The All Progressives Grand Alliance has announced the screening timetable for aspirants seeking to contest for seats in the Senate, House of Representatives and various State Houses of Assembly ahead of the party’s forthcoming primary elections.
The party said the exercise forms part of preparations for the 2026 primary elections and is aimed at ensuring that all aspirants meet the constitutional and party requirements necessary to contest under the APGA platform.
In a statement issued on Sunday in Awka, Anambra State, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Ejimofor Opara, disclosed that the screening for aspirants contesting Senate and House of Representatives seats would hold on Monday, May 11, 2026.
According to the statement, the exercise will take place at the APGA National Headquarters in Abuja and is expected to commence at exactly 10am.
The party further announced that the screening of aspirants contesting for seats in the Anambra State House of Assembly would hold a day later, on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at the APGA Regional Office in Awka, also beginning at 10am.
The announcement comes amid heightened political activities within the party as aspirants intensify consultations and mobilization ahead of the primaries, particularly in Anambra State where APGA continues to maintain a strong political presence.
Opara said the screening process is a crucial stage in the party’s internal democratic procedures and urged all aspirants to comply fully with the schedule and guidelines already communicated by the party leadership.
He stressed that punctuality and adherence to laid-down requirements would be strictly observed during the exercise.
The statement partly read, “This is to notify all APGA aspirants from Anambra State seeking nomination for national and state Assembly positions in the 2026 primary elections that the screening exercise shall hold as follows.”
It added that aspirants vying for Senate and House of Representatives tickets are expected at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on Monday, while those seeking tickets for the Anambra State House of Assembly are to appear before the screening panel in Awka on Tuesday.
The party also clarified that arrangements for screening aspirants from states outside Anambra State would be announced later through official party communication channels.
Political observers believe the screening exercise will shape the party’s preparations ahead of the primaries and eventual general elections, especially as APGA seeks to consolidate its influence beyond Anambra State.
The development has already generated excitement among party faithful and supporters, with many aspirants reportedly intensifying grassroots engagements in anticipation of the primaries.
