The Federal High Court in Abuja was scheduled to hear the high-stakes leadership battle involving Nafiu Bala Gombe and several prominent political figures.
​However, the proceedings took an unexpected turn this afternoon. Despite being set for an accelerated hearing today, Justice Emeka Nwite has reportedly adjourned the suit sine die (indefinitely).
The plaintiff, Nafiu Bala Gombe, informed the court that he has applied to the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court for the case to be transferred to a different judge.
This follows a recent Supreme Court ruling on April 30, which dismissed an interlocutory appeal by David Mark and ordered the parties to return to the trial court for a swift resolution of the substantive case.
The lawsuit centers on a fierce leadership struggle within the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Nafiu Bala, a former Deputy National Chairman, is challenging the legitimacy of the party’s current leadership structure.
