Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has reaffirmed his determination to remain steadfast in delivering on his mandate, declaring that no amount of distraction will derail what he described as his “God-given mission” to transform the state.
The governor made this declaration on Monday during a meeting with Dr. Jasper Uche, a former deputy governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general election, who recently defected to the Labour Party. The meeting took place at Otti’s country home in Nvosi, located in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State.
Dr. Uche, who is also the founder of the Ihe Abia Organisation, had visited the governor alongside a delegation, signaling a significant political shift that observers say could further strengthen the Labour Party’s growing influence in the state.
Receiving his guest warmly, Otti expressed gratitude for Uche’s support and kind words regarding the administration’s performance so far. He noted that such encouragement from political stakeholders, regardless of their previous affiliations, serves as motivation to push forward with reforms and development initiatives.
“And I want to really thank you for everything,” Otti said. “I’m also very encouraged that you also spoke in the same light about the people you came with.”
The governor used the opportunity to reiterate his administration’s resilience, referencing past political challenges and electoral setbacks that, according to him, only strengthened his resolve.
“One assurance I will give you is that we will not give up. We will not be distracted,” he declared firmly. “We have a mission, and until that mission is completed, we won’t stop. And that is why, even in the first two elections that went the way they did, we remained resilient.”
