The Second Africa Urban Forum (AUF2) is currently taking place in Nairobi, Kenya, from April 8 to 10, 2026.
​This forum is a major continental event organized by the African Union Commission (AUC) in partnership with the Government of Kenya, UN-Habitat, and UNECA. It serves as the primary platform for African leaders, policymakers, and urban experts to address the challenges of the continent’s rapid urbanization.
“Adequate Housing for All: Advancing Socio-economic and Environmental Transformation towards the Realization of Agenda 2063.” The primary goal is to elevate housing as a strategic priority for economic growth and climate resilience.
Various high-level sessions are being held at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC). The forum is expected to culminate in the Nairobi Declaration, which will outline Africa’s common position on housing and urban development ahead of the 13th World Urban Forum (WUF13).
Africa is currently the fastest-urbanizing continent in the world. With the urban population projected to reach 1.4 billion by 2050, the discussions in Nairobi this week are focused on “moving from conversation to execution” specifically regarding slum transformation, infrastructure financing, and climate-smart housing.
