The Lagos State Police and the Zone 2 Command have been on a roll, specifically with a major operation in Orile Iganmu just this month.
​It’s a major significant win for the community because they managed to dismantle a gang that has been terrorizing the area for months.
​In early March 2026, the Zonal Puff Adder team executed a precision raid on a hideout nicknamed the “Lion’s Den” on Adeleye Street in Orile Iganmu. This wasn’t just a random sweep; it was a targeted operation following the arrest of a major suspect.
​The police apprehended seven suspects linked to a string of murders and robberies. The 23-year-old suspected ringleader. He reportedly confessed to multiple killings, including a tricycle rider at the Shitta under-bridge.
Other members with colorful (but dangerous) aliases like “Tinko Butcher Man,” “Mentor,” and “Porta” were also picked up. Arrests were also made in the Whitesand area of Orile, effectively squeezing the gang’s operational base.
​The authorities didn’t just get the men; they got the tools of the trade, including locally made cut-to-size shotguns, A collection of cutlasses, knives, and hammers, live cartridges and various “charms” used by the gang.
​This gang was allegedly responsible for several high-profile murders in February 2026, including the killings of residents like Olumide Adegbite and Kehinde Shuaibu. By taking these individuals off the streets, the police have significantly cooled down a major “hot zone” in Lagos.
​It’s definitely a moment where the “intelligence-led policing” they always talk about actually showed tangible results for the people in Orile. The Police need to keep that same energy across the rest of the state!
