Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has congratulated Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda on his successful screening and return as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, alongside other members of the party’s National Working Committee.

In a congratulatory message signed by the governor’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, on Saturday, Mutfwang described the emergence of the party leadership through a consensus arrangement as a thoughtful demonstration of the APC’s commitment to inclusive and people-oriented leadership under the guidance of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly as the country prepares for the 2027 general elections.

The governor commended the maturity and foresight shown by party leaders and stakeholders, noting that their commitment to unity, tolerance and strategic reforms has continued to strengthen internal cohesion within the party. According to him, such unity has helped to create a level playing field for members to pursue their political aspirations without rancour or unnecessary conflict.

Mutfwang noted that consensus-building remains an important tool in democratic politics, especially in a large and diverse political party. He explained that when party leaders choose dialogue and compromise over confrontation, it not only strengthens the party internally but also builds public confidence in its leadership structure.

He further stated that the peaceful and coordinated emergence of the National Working Committee reflects the party’s readiness to reposition itself for future political contests, including the 2027 general elections. According to him, political stability within party structures often translates into better governance and clearer policy direction.

The Plateau State governor also used the opportunity to call on party members across the country to remain united and focused, urging them to place national interest above personal ambition. He said Nigeria’s political environment requires leaders who are willing to work together across regions and political tendencies in order to achieve meaningful development.

He added that the APC, as the ruling party, carries a significant responsibility to provide leadership that is responsive to the needs of Nigerians, noting that unity within the party would play a major role in determining its success in future elections.

Mutfwang expressed confidence that the new leadership of the National Working Committee under Prof. Yilwatda would continue to promote reforms, strengthen party structures and expand the party’s support base across the country. He said the party must continue to focus on policies and programmes that directly impact the lives of ordinary Nigerians.

He also emphasized the importance of youth inclusion, internal democracy and transparent leadership within political parties, noting that these are key elements required to sustain democratic growth in the country.

The governor concluded by wishing the new National Chairman and members of the National Working Committee a successful tenure, expressing hope that their leadership would bring stability, progress and renewed strength to the party as it prepares for future political activities and national development efforts.
