President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Elerinmo of Erinmo Ijesa Kingdom, Oba Michael Odunayo Ajayi, Arowotawaya II, on the occasion of his birthday, lauding his leadership, wisdom, and contributions to community development.

In a statement issued on Thursday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President praised the monarch for his exemplary leadership and commitment to peace and unity within Erinmo Ijesa Kingdom and beyond.

President Tinubu noted that Oba Ajayi has continued to play a pivotal role in preserving the cultural heritage and traditions of his domain, describing him as a custodian of values and a bridge-builder whose influence promotes social cohesion and grassroots development.

According to the President, traditional rulers remain critical partners in governance and nation-building, particularly at the grassroots level where they serve as custodians of culture and intermediaries between the people and government. He commended the Elerinmo for maintaining stability and fostering development in his community through cooperation with government authorities and community leaders.

The President also acknowledged the monarch’s efforts in promoting education, youth development, and peaceful coexistence among residents of the kingdom. He noted that such contributions are essential to sustainable development and national unity, especially at a time when the country is focused on strengthening local institutions and promoting community-driven development.

Tinubu further described Oba Ajayi as a symbol of continuity and cultural pride, noting that his reign has been marked by initiatives that have positively impacted the lives of his people. He said the monarch’s leadership has helped to preserve the rich cultural identity of Erinmo Ijesa while also embracing modern development initiatives that benefit the community.

The President prayed for the monarch’s continued good health, long life, and wisdom as he continues to lead his people and contribute to the development of society.

The statement also highlighted the importance of traditional institutions in Nigeria’s socio-political structure, noting that monarchs play vital roles in conflict resolution, cultural preservation, and community mobilisation for development projects.

Community leaders and residents of Erinmo Ijesa have also paid tribute to the monarch, describing him as a peaceful and development-oriented traditional ruler whose reign has brought progress and unity to the kingdom.

Many noted that his leadership style has encouraged cooperation among various groups within the community, helping to maintain peace and stability.

Traditional rulers across Osun State have continued to play significant roles in supporting government policies, mobilising grassroots support for development programmes, and promoting cultural festivals that attract tourism and economic activity to their domains.

Observers say President Tinubu’s message reflects the federal government’s recognition of the importance of traditional institutions in governance and community development. They note that collaboration between government and traditional rulers is often key to implementing policies at the grassroots level.

As Oba Ajayi marks another year, the President’s message joins those of other dignitaries, community leaders, and well-wishers who have celebrated the monarch’s life, leadership, and service to his people. The occasion, many say, is not only a celebration of age but also of leadership, legacy, and continued service to humanity.
