The Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has ordered the posting of senior officers to various strategic positions across the Nigeria Police Force as part of efforts to strengthen operational efficiency, enhance leadership capacity and improve service delivery nationwide.
The postings were disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Force spokesman, Anthony Placid, who said the redeployments were in line with the police commitment to maintaining an effective command structure and ensuring the strategic deployment of personnel across commands, formations and departments.
According to the statement, the redeployment affects several Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs), who have been assigned to key departments and zones considered critical to the operational strength and administrative efficiency of the Force.
Under the new arrangement, AIG Ado Emmanuel has been posted to the Department of Research and Planning at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, where he is expected to contribute to policy formulation, strategic planning and institutional development. AIG Joseph Eribo has been deployed to the Department of Armament, a vital unit responsible for weapons management and logistics, while AIG Miller Dantawaye has been posted to the Department of Operations, one of the most critical departments in charge of coordinating nationwide police operations.
Similarly, AIG Henry Ifeanyi Uche has been posted to the Department of Training and Development, where he will oversee training programmes and capacity-building initiatives for officers and men of the Force. AIG Olanrewaju Peter Ogunlowo has been deployed to Police Accounts and Budget to oversee financial management and budgeting processes, while AIG Dahiru Mohammed has been posted to Zone 15, Maiduguri, a zone considered strategic due to security challenges in the North-East region.
The statement further indicated that AIG Dankombo F. Morris has been posted to Zone 4, Makurdi; AIG Bello Shehu to Zone 14, Katsina; AIG Ibrahim Balarabe Maikaba to the Department of Legal Services; AIG Ahmed Musa to Community Policing, where he is expected to strengthen police-community relations; AIG Olohundare Moshood Jimoh to Zone 2, Lagos; AIG Simeon U. Akpanudom to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Lagos; and AIG Haruna Olufemi to the Special Protection Unit at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The police authorities stated that the postings are part of ongoing reforms aimed at repositioning the Nigeria Police Force to better respond to modern security challenges, improve internal administration, and enhance public confidence in the Force.
The Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, emphasized that the redeployment of senior officers is a routine administrative process designed to inject fresh ideas, strengthen leadership at various levels, and ensure that the Force continues to operate with professionalism and efficiency.

The Force spokesman, Anthony Placid, noted that the affected officers are expected to assume their new duties immediately and bring their experience and leadership skills to bear in their respective positions. He reiterated the commitment of the police leadership to reforms that will strengthen the institution and improve service delivery to Nigerians.
With the new postings, the police leadership hopes to reinforce its operational structure, improve intelligence gathering, strengthen community policing initiatives, and enhance rapid response to security challenges across various parts of the country.
