The Filipinos Arraigned Alongside MV Nord Bosporus Over Alleged Cocaine Trafficking
The operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arraigned a vessel, MV San Antonio and its 10 crew members, before Justice Ayokunle Olayinka Faji led-court of the Lagos division of Federal High Court.
The vessel and its crew members who are Russians, Ukrainians and others are; Trofymov Oleksandr; Cala Micheal De-Jesus; Cyrus V. Blanco; Jamiry Julfikhar Jacusalem; Lolito Jr Gumela; Bobrov Maksim; Toston Romulo Jr Oling, Stupnytsky Sergiy; Stoychev Sergiy and Ronnel Luntayao Fajardo, were arraigned before the court on charges of alleged conspiracy and unlawful importation of 25.5 kilograms of cocaine to Nigeria from Brazil.
The vessel and its crew were arraigned on Tuesday, in a charge marked FHC/L/10c/20256.
The vessel and the foreign crew members were arrested for bringing the narcotic substance into Nigeria on December 6, 2025, at the GDNL terminal, Apapa Lagos
The defendants alleged illegal acts, according to the prosecutor, Mrs. Theresa Asuquo who led Barrister Adekunle Adebajo and two others, contravened sections 11(b), 14(b) and 11(a)Â of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Act Cap N30 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004.
The vessel and its crew have denied the allegations and pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Based on the not guilty plea, while the vessel is yet to be admitted to bail, its crew members have been granted bail in various terms and conditions.
Apart from monetary sums awarded against each of the crews, they were also ordered not to travel outside the court’s jurisdiction while the case lasted.
They were also ordered to be reporting at the Lagos Command office of the NDLEA, every last Friday of the month. While the NDLEA were directed to notify the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) of the crews in the country.
Further hearing of the matter has been adjourned to March 31, for ruling on the vessel’a bail and trial.
It would be recall that the anti-narcotic agency on Monday, arraigned a vessel, MV Nord Bosporus and its 10 Filipino crew members before the same judge, for alleged conspiracy and unlawful importation of 20 kilograms of cocaine, a prohibited narcotic, in a charge numbered FHC/L/1232c/2025.
The Filipino crew members were Eugene Quinos Corpuz; Mark Joseph Jardiniano; Alexis Navidad Evarrola; Francis Gerard Niones Carpio; Franz Jude Mayran; Mahinay Junniel Lagura; Mario Ganiban Malvar; Hormachuelos Lordito Guivencan; Joshua Emmanuel Hufanda and Edwin Baltazar Reyes.
They were arrested at the same GDNL terminal, Apapa, Lagos, with the prohibited narcotic which was brought into Nigeria from Brazil sometimes in October 2025.
