The Federal Government of Nigeria has unveiled plans to expand the nation’s aviation market and stimulate investment in aircraft acquisition and airport infrastructure.

As part of the strategy, the government is establishing a Special Purpose Window called the Nigeria Aircraft Acquisition and Investment Summit (NAAIS), aimed at creating structured opportunities for investment and collaboration across the aviation sector.

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, explained that the summit will convene international aircraft lessors, global aviation financiers, airline operators, airport concessionaires, policymakers, and institutional investors to explore potential collaborations and investment avenues in Nigeria’s aviation value chain.

“The summit will provide a strategic platform for dialogue between Nigerian airline operators and global aircraft lessors, while also examining financing solutions tailored to the realities of local carriers,” Keyamo said.

He added that discussions will extend to investment frameworks for airport concession programmes and strategies for risk mitigation, aiming to enhance investor confidence and strengthen Nigeria’s aircraft leasing ecosystem.

The minister emphasised that NAAIS will serve as a hub for structured engagement, enabling stakeholders to explore innovative models for fleet expansion, infrastructure development, and operational efficiency in Nigeria’s aviation industry.

Officials expect that the summit will unlock new funding channels, promote public-private partnerships, and provide practical solutions to long-standing challenges faced by Nigerian carriers and airport operators.

By connecting local operators with global financiers and lessors, the Federal Government aims to position Nigeria as a leading aviation hub in Africa while fostering sustainable growth in the sector.

The initiative signals a renewed focus on modernising the aviation ecosystem, enhancing access to aircraft leasing, and creating a conducive environment for long-term investment in Nigeria’s skies.
