The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Prof. Ahmed Audi, has commiserated with the families and friends of a female officer who died in an accident during a simulation exercise at the Corps headquarters on Saturday.
The CG also extended his condolences to colleagues within the service, expressing deep regret over the loss of what he described as one of the Corps’ gallant officers in the Female Strike Force who died as a result of an auto accident.
According to the Public Relations Officer of the Corps, Babawale Afolabi, the unfortunate incident occurred at the National Headquarters in Abuja during a simulation exercise tagged “Tactical Rescue Operation.” The exercise was designed to demonstrate the rescue of kidnapped school children by the Female Strike Force as part of activities marking the 2026 World Civil Defence Day.
World Civil Defence Day is an annual event observed by member countries across the globe to promote awareness of civil protection, disaster management, and emergency response initiatives.
Audi described the deceased officer as dedicated, courageous, and committed to the service of the nation, noting that her death was a painful loss not only to the Corps but to the country at large.
He assured that the Corps would stand by the bereaved family during this difficult period and prayed for the peaceful repose of the officer’s soul.
The NSCDC leadership also reiterated its commitment to upholding safety standards during operational drills and exercises, while continuing to strengthen the capacity of its personnel in responding to emergencies and security challenges nationwide.
