Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State yesterday described Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, as a blessing to the nation, citing her compassion, humility and unwavering commitment to the poor and vulnerable.
The governor made the remarks during a grand homecoming reception held in her honour at the palace of the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, where thousands of residents gathered to welcome the First Lady.
Oborevwori praised Senator Tinubu’s long record of public service, recalling her years in the Senate and her advocacy for policies aimed at improving the lives of Nigerians, particularly women, children and disadvantaged groups.
“We are blessed to have a humble and compassionate First Lady who genuinely cares for the poor and the vulnerable in our communities,” the governor said.
He commended her outreach initiatives and social intervention efforts, noting that her programmes continue to bring hope and relief to many families across the country. According to him, her dedication to humanitarian causes reflects a deep sense of responsibility and empathy for ordinary Nigerians.
The colourful reception at the Warri palace featured cultural displays and enthusiastic crowds, underscoring the significance of the visit to the people of the oil-rich kingdom.
Community leaders and dignitaries present at the event also lauded the First Lady’s contributions to national development.
Oborevwori reaffirmed Delta State’s support for initiatives that promote social welfare and inclusive growth, pledging continued collaboration with the Office of the First Lady to uplift vulnerable populations.
