The National Chairman of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Professor Abubakar Gombe, has expressed strong confidence that the party’s candidates will outperform their rivals in the forthcoming Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections.
Speaking at the grand finale of the party’s campaign rally in the Abuja Municipal Area Council, Gombe declared that the SDP is poised for victory across all six area councils, citing what he described as the competence, credibility, and grassroots appeal of its candidates.
According to him, the party has presented aspirants who are not only experienced but deeply committed to improving the welfare of residents. He assured the electorate that the SDP would justify the trust reposed in it, describing the party as welfare-driven and people-oriented.
“Our candidates are tested and trusted. We are confident that the people of the FCT will choose credibility and capacity over empty promises,” Gombe said, adding that the enthusiasm and response witnessed during the campaign period provide a solid basis for optimism.
He urged voters to turn out in large numbers on election day, remain peaceful, and ensure that their votes count by safeguarding them until the final results are announced.
The SDP chairman also commended the party’s chairmanship candidate in Abuja Municipal Area Council, Dr. Obinna Simon, praising his record of service to the community. Gombe noted that Simon has demonstrated commitment to grassroots development through a personal foundation that supports indigent residents, describing him as a compassionate leader with a clear vision for inclusive governance.
Reaffirming the party’s resolve, Gombe said the SDP remains focused on delivering responsive leadership and sustainable development across the FCT area councils if given the mandate.
