Former Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, has commended Alex Otti for what he described as purposeful and people-centred leadership that is repositioning Abia State for sustainable growth and prosperity.

Osinbajo gave the commendation on Wednesday during a visit to the governor, an occasion that coincided with Otti’s birthday celebration. The former Vice President expressed admiration for the governor’s performance in office, noting that the true essence of public service lies in making meaningful differences in the lives of the people.

“I am extremely proud of the work you have done so far. You have lived up to expectations — not only to the people but also to your friends and associates. In the short time I have been here, I have seen tangible evidence of progress,” Osinbajo said.

He particularly lauded Otti’s social welfare reforms, including his assent to the Senior Citizens’ Law, describing the initiative as exemplary and deeply rooted in compassion and social responsibility.

According to him, effective governance must prioritise the welfare of the vulnerable and ensure that no segment of society is left behind.

Osinbajo stressed that successful welfare systems are built on care, empathy and deliberate policies that uplift disadvantaged groups, adding that Abia’s approach under Otti reflects a commitment to inclusive development.

The visit underscored the cordial relationship between both leaders and highlighted growing recognition of the Abia State government’s reform agenda aimed at strengthening institutions, improving public services and enhancing the overall quality of life for residents.
